Mensa Stimm-Gabel in Dresden

The name Stimm-Gabel was given to the canteen with the help of a naming contest. On the one hand, Stimmgabel (tuning fork) relates to the musical context into which the canteen is embedded, as it serves students and staff of the HfM, Dresden's Academy of Music. On the other hand, the name might evoke the image of an actual fork. That is to say that as long as the composition of the meals is in tune, the hungry musicians are contended. The canteen's ambience is mainly determined by a glass roof which stretches over the central court flanked by four large pillars. This is a place where students gather to eat and relax after exhausting rehearsals. The lunch dishes served here are all prepared in the Klinikum canteen. Students can chose from two daily meal options, one of which is entirely meat-free. In addition to the complete meals, the canteen offers a broad variety of hot and cold snacks, as well as a salad bar, while the in-house bakery (run by the Studentenwerk Dresden) provides a wide selection for coffee- and cake enthusiasts.
