Why do some foods contain flavour enhancers? Can't such ingredients be completely left out?
The Studentenwerk Dresden considers refraining from flavour enhancers and similar additives as crucial for the selection of meals. Our chefs do not use any such additives during meal preparation.
Up to 20.000 visitors frequent our canteens on a daily basis. As a result, it is not always possible to completely exclude ready-made products from the preparation process. While selecting these products, we are however constantly on the lookout for those containing the least amount of additives. We also keep our eyes open for entirely additive-free alternatives. In doing so, we have been able to eliminate flavour enhancers from nearly all of our soups, sauces and spice mixes.
