Studentenwerk Dresden performance figures
As a public law institution (German: Anstalt des öffentlichen Rechts), Studentenwerk Dresden also has to take stock every year. The performance figures show how the Studentenwerk will perform in 2025 from an economic perspective.
The total number of students supported by Studentenwerk Dresden has increased for the first time since last year, reaching 40,100 (2024: 39,150). The number of employees at Studentenwerk Dresden increased slightly to 502 (2024: 498).
Student Dining Services
In the university catering division, total revenue rose very slightly in 2025 to €10.96 million (2024: €10.74 million). Of this amount, €8.55 million came from the dining halls (2024: €8.39 million) and €2.41 million from the cafeterias (2024: €2.35 million).
Student Financing
In the Student Financial Aid division, a total of 9,275 BAföG applications were processed in 2025 (2024: 9,621). The number of applications thus continued to decline—although the total amount of funding disbursed remained nearly unchanged at €56.8 million (2024: €56.4 million). The funding rate for students receiving support continued to decline to 17.7% (2024: 18%).
Student Housing
In 2025, a total of 6,599 dormitory beds were available in the 39 student housing facilities operated by the Studentenwerk in Dresden, Tharandt, Zittau, and Görlitz. Rental income for the full year 2025 amounted to approximately €21.0 million (2024: €20.9 million).
Counseling and Social Affairs
In the area of social counseling, there were 2,079 counseling sessions, including those conducted by phone and email (2024: 2,158).
The number of student legal consultations has increased to 701 compared to the previous year (2024: 669).
The number of contacts at the Psychosocial Counseling Center rose again in 2025, reaching a total of 8,492 (2024: 7,943).
The number of childcare spots available at the daycare centers remained unchanged at 240.
Student Culture
In the Department of Culture, a total funding amount of €56,540 was used. A total of 5 artistic groups, 2 student clubs, and 17 cultural projects received funding.
