The SpielWerk daycare center has once again been recognized as a “House Where Children Explore”—marking the eighth time it has received this distinction. The certification honors the center’s long-standing and ongoing commitment to early STEM education for sustainable development.
Since 2010, the SpielWerk daycare center has actively participated in the nationwide educational initiative Stiftung Kinder forschen (formerly “Haus der kleinen Forscher”). In Dresden, the initiative is coordinated through the local network of the Dresden Handwerkskammer. Discovery and exploration play a central role in the daily routine of the children at the SpielWerk daycare center. Together with the educational staff, children explore questions from their everyday lives, observe, experiment, and in doing so develop their own ideas and solutions. In addition to daily “everyday exploration,” targeted science activities take place regularly—both event-based within individual groups and seasonally oriented in the form of research weeks for the entire facility.
Available childcare at the SpielWerk Daycare Center
At the SpielWerk Daycare Center, the focus is on growing up together—in an open, tolerant, and curious environment. As a university-affiliated daycare center, it offers reliable childcare options specifically for students and university staff. At the same time, the SpielWerk Daycare Center is open to all families—regardless of whether or where the parents study or work. Regular tours provide insights into the daycare center’s daily routine; individual appointments can be scheduled at any time.
