UNI AIR - Band and DJ Contest for students

Call for applications: Application to perform at the 18th UNI AIR on 04.06.2025

Nature of the event

The event is organized by the Studentenwerk Dresden and the Dresden student clubs. The UNI AIR is part of the Dresden Student Days and aims to discover new talents in the student culture sector, present them to a wider audience and provide financial support for the best performers on the night.

It is an open air event with a covered 10 x 6 m stage. Professional sound and lighting equipment will be provided.

Place and time

The UNI AIR will take place on June 04, 2025 from 6 p.m. to midnight on the outdoor area behind the HSZ of the TU Dresden. There is no entrance fee.

Application

We are looking for student bands/soloists and DJane's who dare to go public and would like to win the Studentenwerk's sponsorship prizes. The prizes are endowed as follows:

3rd place 300 € 150 €

Requirements

Groups must consist of at least 50% students who are studying at a university supervised by Studentenwerk Dresden. A double application (e.g. with more than one band) is not permitted.

Soloists must be students at a university supervised by Studentenwerk Dresden.

Competition procedure

The competition will take place in two stages. Depending on the number of applications, preliminary rounds will be held in April and May 2025. For the first time, there will also be a regional competition in Zittau and Görlitz. All applicants are asked to keep the dates of the preliminary rounds free.

A maximum of six bands and DJane's can qualify for the final on June 4, 2025.

Dates of the preliminary rounds 2025:

  • Student club Bärenzwinger: 23rd April
  • Student club Novitatis: 29th April
  • Student club Maus (Görlitz): 7th May
  • Student club Aquarium: 8th May

When applying, bands and DJane's must be aware that the performance time at UNI AIR and the preliminary rounds is limited to 20 minutes.

Depending on the type of performance and the technical conditions, the organizer alone decides on the order of the performance.

A jury appointed by the Studentenwerk Dresden will decide who is eligible to take part in the preliminary rounds.

The preliminary rounds and the final will be judged 50/50 by a jury and the audience. Legal recourse is excluded!
